Volley is the leading developer of voice AI games for smart speaker platforms like Amazon Alexa, smartphones, and connected TVs.
Volley was founded by Max Child and James Wilsterman in 2016. Max and James were college roommates and teamed up after graduating to build mobile apps together. They became interested in voice as an emerging technology that had the potential to revolutionize game design and home entertainment. They were among the first developers to build games for Alexa devices. By the end of 2017, they had launched several hit Alexa games and had been invited to join Y Combinator’s Winter 2018 cohort.
Today, Volley’s quickly-growing team occupies a beautiful office in the heart of San Francisco’s Hayes Valley, and a spot on the 2022 YC Top Companies list!
In July 2024, Volley announced that we closed a $55M Series C fundraise to continue expanding our team and our roster of games across new genres and platforms.
Our values, or “Vollues”, are what we see as the best parts about working at Volley. They are the guideposts for all aspects of our business, from how we make and market our products to how we work with and support one another.
At Volley, we make the best products in the categories we choose to enter.
Our products are designed to bring friends and families closer together. We also care deeply about nurturing this same spirit of togetherness in our work.
At Volley, we take calculated risks in new markets with the potential for massive rewards. We’re betting that the revolution enabled by voice technologies is just getting started and we want to lead the way forward.
